E-learning in English: what’s it all about?

You often hear people talking about e-learning. But do you know exactly what it involves? E-learning is a rapidly developing remote learning method. This solution offers numerous advantages for you and your company. Why? Because it’s synonymous with flexibility, accessibility and performance both for the learner and the company. What’s more, the programmes offered are varied and adapted to your level and include detailed tracking of your progress.

But is it really an effective learning method?

The advantages of English e-learning solutions

Advantage no. 1: accessibility

Getting started is a piece of cake! All you need is an IT device with internet connection allowing you to access the content 24/7 and in complete security thanks to a personalised username and password.

Advantage no. 2: flexibility

You progress at your own pace wherever you are: at work, at home or even when travelling. It’s therefore easy to fit your e-learning goals around your personal schedule while saving yourself the journey to and from your training centre.

Advantage no. 3: effectiveness

Numerous studies analysed by the French Employment Observatory show that this is a very effective method for learning a foreign language. Indeed, you can work on your specific needs with themes related to your job or your personal interests. What’s more, the interactive nature of the platforms favours memorisation. You can practise your listening or work on your pronunciation by recording your own voice, for example.

The solution is much more fun and comprehensive than a textbook.

Is e-learning the ideal solution for making progress?

At ACE Training, we believe that e-learning on its own is not enough to progress in English or any other language. That’s why we have always integrated this solution into a comprehensive training programme whereby e-learning is combined with face-to-face or group sessions with an experienced trainer.

As a trainee with ACE Training – depending on your training pathway – you have access to an interactive e-learning platform to consolidate and put into practice what you have learned during the sessions with your trainer. On the platform, the activities are arranged by:

  • language: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, etc.
  • level: from beginner to autonomous
  • theme: grammar, listening, vocabulary
  • objective: general or professional use, preparation of the TOEIC, etc.

This enables you to find the content which corresponds to your specific needs and make progress while having fun with videos, articles, exercises, and of course tests.

E-learning is therefore an ideal tool to be used as part of a multi-modal training programme. The aim is to maximise your potential for success by taking full advantage of the benefits offered by each method: face-to-face, videoconference, telephone and e-learning.

So what do our trainees think about e-learning?

After her English training with us in 2019, Catherine shared her feedback on e-learning and its benefits. “E-learning is a great complement to face-to-face training. It means having to work regularly at home but it has helped me enormously in terms of vocabulary, grammar, listening and pronunciation. You can then put this new knowledge into practice and take part in more complex and varied conservations.”

So, progressing in a language requires more than a little effort. You need to be really motivated and be prepared to work regularly. But you can be sure that ACE Training will help you find the best method to suit you. So, are you ready to give it a go?
